new things to come

it's been quite a while since our last post... hope you're all good out there!
the first couple of new songs are done and sound pretty good! and we've got loads more which are shaping up very nicely. we'll do the first demo recordings soonish.
meanwhile a new website is in progress. it looks amazing and fits perfectly to our new songs!! should be able to launch it in a couple of weeks... we're very excited about that!
so there's a lot going on behind the scenes and we're looking forward to the next few months when all (or most) of the songs are done and we're going to record some of them properly as well as start scheduling next year's upcoming tour.
stay tuned!
hugs,
nick

New Song / Two into One

hi everybody,
here is a new song called 'Two into One'. It's my most emotional song of all times.
it was quite hard to sing this without having tears in my eyes.
this song is dedicated to my wonderful grandmother. she died when i was only 7.
she took care of me in the morning from when i was sweet little 6 weeks old.
hugs to all of you
maria

Lyrics:

//Two into One//
tears in my eyes i cried please take me with you
i feel the time has come
telephone's ringing i lost you you lost me
and still i do cry
oh could you just see her she's beautiful you'd miss her as i will do all my life
two into one well you are two into one
two into one we are all two into one and you're in me

i see you walking, the sun in your heart and i feel you close to me
i cried in the morning but you're there to hold me so softly in your soul
the door bell is ringing i hug you and see you soon then in the morning sun
two into one well you are two into one
two into one we are all two into one and you're in me

chris murphy / can't get enough of your dang-da-dang

2 1/2 years ago we licensed a song to a label called pistol records. they wanted 'can't get enough of your dang-da-dang' for their compilation 'fresh weird & wonderful'. released in 2007. i read in the news that they sold many many copies of it (in fact it peaked no. 8 on the US itunes album charts) and our song was the best sold track on the record in lots of countries including UK and the US. now guess what: we never got the money for those sales!!
the label was owned by a guy named chris murphy. he used to be the manager from inxs. maybe he reads this and pays us our money... probably 1.000.000 euros... :) so we can keep on doing music and go on tour to where we sold the song! we'd love to play in the united states, korea, japan and and and... its really cool so many people from different countries are reading this! i don't know how you came across the taste but it seems very likely you know us from that release. so there's at least a good side to this annoying story.
i have been to the US just once so far. i was in miami. it was cool.... when we got out of the airport the air felt so different. i was 18 and really excited!
nick used to live in new york city for a year. he studied drums there. very cool! what a pity we didn't know each other at that time... so i could have seen new york as well! i'd love to do a gig their. maybe sometimes. as soon as i get the money from mr murphy. hehe.
ah and he offered us to release an ep but we refused. luckily.
xx and hugs m

greenpeace/uranium/eco-power

my mum told me today she went to a lecture held by greenpeace.
she goes eco for more than 25 years! a very very clever woman my mum!
it was a about the mining of uranium for the nuclear power plants.
its so terrible what is happening in the countries where uranium gets stooped.
little kids are playing in the radioactive mud...and the ground-water gets embittered for tenthousands of years. and so many more bad things are happening there its terrible!
the industry claims that everything is save but its not!!! the miners die on lung cancer very early. we all live on a time bomb...there are massive amounts of radioactive material stored in shabby barrels. they are not stabled in special places...often they just stand somewhere in the nature. there is just NO good/safe way to get rid of uranium!
nick and me decided to buy eco-power since we have our own house.
we all should do that! go eco!
greenpeace said its nearly the only way we can do something about it!!! money rules the world and we can be the leader! we can!

the following years...

...i started to sing and sing and sing. everyday.... i spent hours and hours singing to all the records my dad had. at the age of 12 i started to listen to the beatles, wings and mc cartney solo stuff, billy joel, trio, creedence clearwater, peter paul & mary, the who, rolling stones + + +. as a kid you really burn music into your brain. you can never ever get it out of your head. at the age of 16 i started to play the guitar. i had piano lessons as a kid but it never really touched me so i stopped doing it when i was 15 or so. i started to compose some songs....one i did at the age of 16 was this one 'daydream'. bloody 16! haha. i did the lyrics with my dad. cool time!
xm

oh hey why not.....another song: sooooooo popyyyyy. haha. have fun listening! its with matthias link (guitar) and frank thumbach (bass)..... 'the other me'

a special music moment

everything started in 1991. i was 12 years old. i found some old tapes my dad had in a box. i inserted that special red tape in my cassette recorder and got back into my bed... it was a weekend and i quite often got back into my bed in the morning to listen to some kids tales on my cassette recorder. i listened and suddenly their was this song that touched me in a way a song never did before. i couldnt hold back my tears. after a good while my dad came to my bed and i asked him which song that was. he said it was john lennons 'woman'. it was such an impressive moment for me i still remember as it was just yesterday. xxmaria

walking through a cornfield...

...is great. i walked through it today with lilian. it was nice she called it 'blätterhöhle' meaning leaf-cave. i didn't walk through one since i was a kid. :) i thought of taking a corncob with me but i didn't. now i can see from our living room that they harvest the corn...with floodlight. wow! and a bit sad as i didn't took one with me. :) no corn for lunch tomorrow...buahhhh.

we just made a fire.... its so relaxing! its such a fascinating element!
i think its a primal feeling... it makes us feel save...

favourite records

lilian just wanted to listen to phoenix "1901". once again. and again. and again... think i listened to that song (and the whole album) about a million times. she always picks the songs from our ipod touch herself. i still like it though. this made me think of writing a post about my favourite records of all times.
actually there are only two records which i consider "perfect" - meaning i can always listen to the whole record without having the urge to skip a track and without realising i wasn't really paying attention in the middle of a song. these two albums are "12 memories" by travis and "run to be born" by walking concert.
besides there are many more albums which i love and which are nearly "perfect", it's impossible to name all - i always forget some. so these are the ones that come to mind at the moment: "wolfgang amadeus phoenix" by phoenix, "quiet" by john scofield, "maestro" by kaizers orchestra, "the weight is a gift" by nada surf, "broken by soldiers" by the raconteurs, "in rainbows" and "ok computer" by radiohead, "first impressions of earth" by the strokes.
